Facilities Maintenance Worker


Major Responsibilities:


-Makes minor repairs to building components such as drywall, paint, floor coverings, ceiling tiles, doors, locks, office furniture etc.
-Performs minor electrical repairs such as replacing light bulbs, ballasts, switches and wiring in accordance with all safety and code requirements.
-Performs minor plumbing repairs to faucets, piping, valves and drains.
-Performs periodic inspections and preventative maintenance on facility systems such as interior and exterior lighting, electrical, plumbing, gas detection, lubrication and other related equipment.
-Operates plow truck, lawn mower, fork lift, man lift, floor scrubber etc.
-Makes minor repairs to concrete flatwork and the building envelope.
-Performs snow removal of walkways, driveways, parking lots and bus stops/shelters.
-Cleans/mops and operates floor scrubber on shop and bus storage concrete floors.
-Maintain building grounds, lawns and planting beds. Includes weeding, mulching, trimming, mowing and trash pickup.
-Cleans and disinfects restroom toilets, washbasins, sinks, countertops, mirrors, water fountains, wall switches, door handles on a regular basis.
-Polishes metal brightwork.
-Dusts/wipes clean; tables, counter tops, desks, base boards, light fixtures and HVAC vents etc.
-Cleans and disinfects restroom floors, partitions, doors and shower stalls.
-Routinely inspects and replenishes paper towel, tissue and soap dispensers.
-Sweeps and damp mops VCT and other hard floors.
-Vacuums carpeted floors and entry mats including offices, hallways and maintenance offices on a regular basis.
-Empties all trash containers and recycle bins on an ongoing basis.
-Spot cleans carpeting, walls and windows as needed.
-And all other duties as assigned


Additional Tasks and Responsibilities:


-Cleaning of transit coaches and service vehicles.
-Cleans exterior of building including windows, siding, walkways etc.
-Cleanup of fluid spills in accordance with CATA spill response procedures.
-Assist in the repair, installation and removal of stop signs and shelter placards.
-Set up and tear down tables, chairs, gates etc. for special events.
-Buffs/Waxes VCT floors and Shampoos wall to wall carpeting as needed.


Minimum Requirements:


-Experience in interior and exterior maintenance including: mowing, trimming, weeding, snow removal, janitorial and general handyman skills.
-Good general carpentry skills.
-Good trouble shooting and problem solving skills.
-Ability to read and follow complex directions and schematic diagrams.
-Ability to work safely and efficiently without continuous direct supervision.
-Ability to work outdoors under unfavorable weather conditions (i.e. heat or cold temperatures)
-Ability to periodically lift and carry heavy objects.
-Good working knowledge of computers.
-Good working knowledge of electrical, plumbing and HVAC systems.
-Must adhere to all safety requirements and code regulations.
-Must be able to establish and maintain a cordial and safe work environment.
-Must maintain discretion and confidentiality when necessary.
-Must be able to identify critical problems and take charge to solve problems.
-This position requires driving and operating maintenance vehicles and machinery such as plows, forklift, drill press, lathe and various hand held power tools.
-Any combination of education and experience equivalent to high school or trade school graduate, apprentices and applicable work experience.
-Possession of a valid PA driver’s license and a good driving record.

Operations Supervisor

Job Summary:


-Performs technical and intermediate administrative work supervising day to day transit system operations; does related work as required. Supervision is exercised over all subordinate personnel.


Major Responsibilities/Activities:


-Plans, schedules and supervises transit system operations;
-Supervises and trains bus drivers;
-Investigates bus accidents, monitors driver performance and makes recommendations to the Operations Manager;
-Implements union contract and work policies, rules and work procedures;
-Ensures all routes have drivers and that timetables are maintained;
-Operates transit bus when required;
-Responds to and investigates customer inquiries and complaints;
-Revise bus sheet assignments for each daily run;
-Revise and ensure the cover sheet has the correct hours worked for each driver;
-Maintains time records on leave time accrual and any leave time taken;
-Answers telephone when needed; schedules drivers for special service needs;
-Maintains and replaces bus stop signs;
-Investigate incidents and claims;
-Conducts disciplinary meetings with drivers;
-Oversees maintenance activities when required;
-Prepares a variety of periodic and special reports on programs and operations;
-Performs related tasks as required.


Requirements:


-Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school and considerable experience in public transit system operations or extensive experience supervising large scale operations with a minimum of 50 employees.
-Thorough knowledge of the principles and practices of public transit system administration;
-Thorough knowledge of the hazards and safety precautions of large scale operations;
-General knowledge of business practices applicable to public transit system management;
-Ability to plan, supervise and develop;
-Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with Authority officials, associates and the general public;
-Ability to communicate ideas effectively both orally and in writing;
-Possession of a Class B commercial driver's license valid in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, including a P endorsement and removal of the L restriction – Preferred but not required (must be obtained within 6 months of hire date).


Essential Physical Functions:


-Occasional lifting, pushing, pulling of up to 20 lbs;
-Frequent lifting, pushing pulling of up to 10 lbs;
-Frequent stooping, walking, lifting;
-Vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word, and conveying detailed or important instructions to others accurately, loudly, or quickly;
-Hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels;
-Visual acuity is required for depth perception, color perception, night vision, peripheral vision, assembly or fabrication of parts at or within arms length, operation of machines, operation of motor vehicles or equipment, determining the accuracy and thoroughness of work, and observing general surroundings and activities;
-The worker is subject to inside and outside environmental conditions and extreme cold.
