CATA JOB APPLICANT EVALUATION PROCESS

CATA has established processes and procedures to ensure that vacant positions are filled in a manner that ensures the best qualified applicant is hired. Therefore, the applicant review process will include one or more of the following: written, oral or performances tests, examinations, or interviews to determine an applicant’s potential for employment with the Authority. Accounting Clerk

Do you have an employment background that includes intermediate technical accounting work providing assistance to the Finance Department and provides general office assistance, as necessary? Are you organized and accurate? Do you possess a strong work ethic and the ability to work with a diverse group of people? This position requires, the aptitude to follow direction, the capability to perform a variety of bookkeeping work-related tasks and excellent computer skills.

As an Accounting Clerk at CATA you will be working with a team of dedicated employees who have committed to providing excellent service to all of our staff and customers. Some pertinent responsibilities of the position are listed below.

  • • Responsible for gathering and matching accounts payable documentation and approvals; entering transactions into the accounting software system; disbursing funds by various means; responding to vendor inquiries and making inquiries of vendors; maintaining open and paid files; and archiving records via scans of all documents;
    • Produces monthly Check History Report and researches questions from Board members;
    • Processes weekly employee reimbursement and bi-weekly payroll direct deposits;
    • Responsible for the state operating grant process (quarterly progress reports, legacy budget, and annual application), to include gathering and preparing the information, reviewing accuracy, making online submissions, and responding to inquiries;
    • Acts as CATA’s primary point of contact for PennDOT’s Capital Planning Tool;
    • Prepares monthly ridership reports for contracted apartment complexes;
    • Maintains fleet database, to include additions and dispositions;
    • Completes monthly records for CNG usage and billing;
    • Controls the Authority’s contracts management system;
    • Provides general office assistance and works on special projects as they arise;

Maintenance Supervisor -  2nd Shift (approx. 2pm-10pm)

This position requires a background and experience in CNG transit vehicle operations and repair.

As a Maintenance Supervisor at CATA you will be working with a team of dedicated employees who have committed to providing excellent service to all of our staff. Some pertinent responsibilities of the position are listed below.

  • • Assists the Maintenance Manager and as necessary act on his or her behalf in their absence.
    • Supervise, train and monitor the work of the mechanics and service crew engaged in maintaining, servicing, repairing and fueling buses and other vehicles and equipment.
    • Ensure completed work by service employees and mechanics meet quality and safety expectations.
    • Ensure work orders are appropriately scheduled and completed in a timely manner while meeting safety and quality requirements. • Responds to inquiries and complaints concerning vehicles and equipment.
    • Ensure that all completed work is appropriately captured and recorded in the fleet management software and that all records are accurate. Prepares warranty claims.
    • Position requires the acquisition and maintaining of a CDL & a PA State Inspection License. CATA does provide complete training for the CDL.
    • Oversee the road call program to minimize unnecessary road calls while providing timely and efficient support to the operations department.
    • Conducts meeting with shop personnel to identify and resolve problems; provides counseling and guidance when needed; Coordinates shop personnel’s shifts and assignments.

This position requires flexibility, the aptitude to follow direction and the capability to perform a variety of physical work-related tasks. Successful completion of CDL training and testing will be required.

As a Mechanic II at CATA you will be working with a team of dedicated employees who have committed to providing excellent service to all of our staff and customers. Some pertinent responsibilities of the position are listed below.

  • • Inspecting, repairing and maintaining transit coaches, automobiles and equipment;
    • Performs preventive maintenance and lubrication services per the manufacturer’s specs;
    • Inspects vehicles for physical damages and mechanical shortcomings;
    • Performs tune-ups on diesel, gasoline, and CNG engines;
    • Diagnoses and repairs brake systems, engine, transmission, rear differential, electrical and air system failures;
    • Relines brakes;
    • Repairs or replaces generators, injectors and air conditioning;
    • Repairs and operates special tools and equipment used in the maintenance of transit coaches and support vehicles;
    • Prepares repair orders and other maintenance related documents;
    • Performs body work such as patching, sanding, painting and bumping;
    • Conducts road test and goes on road calls to repair and/or retrieve disabled vehicles;
    • Performs Pennsylvania State vehicle inspections per vehicle code;
    • Fills in where needed as qualified;
    • Performs related tasks as required.

• Possesses the skills and background to perform minor vehicle and facility repair work; • Does heavy cleaning work in coaches, building halls, offices, shops and yards;
• Operates sweeper and other powered cleaning equipment;
• Sweeps, mops, waxes, buffs and scrubs floors;
• Dusts, washes, washes and polishes furniture and woodwork;
• Cleans restrooms; • Washes window and walls;
• Tends surrounding walks and grounds; mows grass and trims shrubbery;
• Cleans shop and industrial areas;
• May move furniture and load or unload large freight;
• Washes and cleans buses and operates and maintains bus wash facility;
