CATABUS Service to Operate Fare-Free on Thursday, January 26 in Memory of Coach Joe Paterno

The Centre Area Transportation Authority (CATA) will operate its CATABUS system fare-free on Thursday, January 26, in honor of Coach Joe Paterno, who passed away earlier this week.

The free CATABUS service throughout the community will also provide an alternative for those traveling to Penn State on Thursday, when Coach Paterno’s Memorial Service at the Bryce Jordan Center is expected to impact traffic and parking on campus.

In addition to the buses operating at no cost on Thursday, a Moment of Remembrance will be observed at 2:00 p.m. At this time, all operating CATABUS vehicles will pull to the side of the road at a safe location, secure the vehicle, and stop for a “moment of silence” of one full minute in honor of Coach Paterno and his legacy to our community.
