Bus riding is made problem-free and enjoyable when you know the basic fundamentals of bus transportation.

  • Read the headsign to identify the proper bus.
  • Stand close to the stop and signal to the driver.
  • Wait until the bus comes to a complete stop before boarding.
  • Have your exact change, fare, token or pass ready.
  • Ask the driver for a transfer as you board the first bus, if needed.
  • Pull the cord strung above or below the windows to signal stop.
  • Wait until the bus comes to a complete stop before exiting.
  • Walk behind the bus, not in front of it.

NOTES: Children under forty inches and accompanied by an adult ride for free. Transfers are free and serve as substitute fare for the second bus ride needed to complete your trip.

This project was made possible through a Transit Research and Demonstration Grant from the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation to demonstrate the the use of emerging internet technology to enhance information about public transportation for both current and potential users.
