CATA Strategic Plan
At its Monday January 24, 2005 Board Meeting the Centre Area Transportation Authority's Board adopted the updated CATA Strategic Plan.

Planning is an essential tool in the delivery of public transportation services. CATA has been fortunate to work along side the Centre County Metropolitan Planning Organization (CCMPO) on a number of planning and long range forecasting projects. Currently, the CCMPO is preparing a Long Range Transportation Plan that will help guide Centre County transportation issues until the year 2030. One part of this Long Range Transportation Plan was the creation of a more focused, strategic view of CATA. CATA plays a major role in the infrastructure and transportation network of not only the State College area, but the entire county. As CATA thinks long term to the year 2030, there are a number of activities and issues that need to be addressed in the immediate (5-6 year) horizon in order to fully participate in and meet the Long Range Transportation Plan objectives that will be set to the year 2030.

The purpose of this Strategic Plan is to provide an agenda of projects for CATA throughout a five to six year planning horizon. As such, it considers both fixed route and demand responsive services that are operated by CATA and the Centre County Office of Transportation (CCOT). This document provides a vision of what public transportation can be during the next few years and presents implementable projects in such areas as service, technology and the relationships between the county’s different transportation agencies. It is anticipated that this strategic review will provide a “punch list” of activities that can both guide future transit activities and track performance in these areas.
