Centre County United Way has developed a community initiative to
assist families who have family members mobilized for military services.
Operation ASAP (Armed Services Assistance Program) is a partnership
of Centre County United Way agencies, military services and concerned
employers formed for the purpose of providing aid to military families.
Operation ASAP is a single point of contact for coordinating assistance
to military families by referring them to those partners that can
provide help with financial concerns, child care needs, counseling,
emergency services, emotional support, etc.
CATA will aid in this operation by providing discounted monthly
passes to those families who have had either a parent or spouse
deployed and that the person deployed was a primary source of transportation
for the family - a free one-month OnePass with the purchase of a
one-month OnePass (buy one, get one free). This is a one-time offer
and is limited to one discount per family. To qualify for
the discount, a family member must present a copy of military orders
specifying a family member's deployment to the Middle East.
