The
Centre Area Transportation Authority (CATA) will again be providing
shuttle service to the Penn State football home games this season.
STOPS: The service stops only at the
specially marked designate shuttle stop locations.
Many of the stops are also regular CENTRE LINE stops but not every
CENTRE LINE or LOOP/LINK stop is also a Gameday Shuttle stop. Please
check the 2007
Game Day Football Shuttle Route Map to see where each location
is.
NEW
FOR 2007: Special marked shuttle stop locations |
The only change
in the service from what has operated the last couple years
is that the shuttle stops are now specially marked with
a separate Game Day shuttle stop sign.
Each shuttle stop location is now designated by a new special
sign showing which of the two shuttle routes serve that
stop. Each route will only stop at these marked locations.
The
photo on the right shows an example of a stop served by
CENTRE LINE routes and the South Atherton Game Day shuttle
route.

ROUTING:
The Game Day Football Shuttle service consists of two separate routes
that provide continuous service
between many area hotels, Downtown State College, and Beaver Stadium.
One route serves
Downtown State College (DOWNTOWN SHUTTLE)
and the other serves the South Atherton Street hotels and businesses
(SOUTH ATHERTON SHUTTLE).
-
The Downtown Shuttle serves primarily the Downtown hotels and
the three Downtown parking garages.
-
The
South Atherton Shuttle serves the many hotels along South Atherton
St. along with several other areas where you can also park and
ride including:
-
The
rear parking lot at Hills Plaza
-
Along
the street in Windmere Park (Rolling Ridge Dr, & Windmere
Dr.)
-
The
Easterly Parkway Elementary School
Both shuttles will stop at the
specially marked designate shuttle stop locations
along the routes where
riders may take advantage of additional on-street parking along/off
of Rolling Ridge Drive, Windmere Drive, South Atherton Street, University
Drive and Easterly Parkway ( S. Atherton Shuttle) and the fact that
the three large Downtown parking garages are within two blocks of
the Schlow Library stop on the Downtown shuttle. To see the actual
routing and specific stop locations click the 2007
Game Day Football Shuttle Route Map
link below.
OPERATING SCHEDULE:
Both routes begin three hours before kickoff and run
continuously until one hour after the game is over.
Because of the late start for
the the Notre Dame game
(6:00 p.m.) on Saturday, September 8 and the
Ohio State game (8:00 p.m.) on Saturday October 27, service will
begin those days five hours before kickoff.
Both routes operate in both directions, to and from the stadium,
approximately every ten minutes before the game and every twenty
minutes during the game. Following the game, they run continuously
one-way from the stadium.
Once the shuttle stops,
an hour after the end of the game, fans can take advantage of the
no-fare WHITE and BLUE LOOP service that operates continuous service
until 2:30 a.m. between the LOOP stops near Beaver Stadium and Downtown
State College.
FARE:
Fare for the shuttle is $2.00 per person, per trip (exact fare only).
Individuals presenting a valid U.S. Medicare Card, Senior Transit
Identification Card, or a CATA Reduced Fare Identification Card
may ride for half that fare ($1.00/trip). Please remember that passengers
pay when boarding the bus and may pay for more than one passenger
but drivers do not carry change.

| HILLS
PLAZA PARKING MAP FOR 2007 |
The
map below shows the only areas in Hills Plaza where Shuttle
parking is permitted. These parking restrictions are necessary
for the Hills merchants and their customers who, through
their contribution of this parking area, make this valuable
service to the community possible. Cars parked
outside of the Football Shuttle permitted parking areas
will be subject to ticketing and towing, and may cause
Hills Plaza to close the parking lot to football patrons
altogether. Your cooperation is appreciated.
Since parking at Hills is limited, fans arriving at Hills
within one hour of kickoff are encouraged
to proceed directly to Windmere Dr. or Rolling Ridge Dr.
where they will be able to park much closer to one of
the pickup points than at Hills. Riders are also reminded
that there is approximately 80 parking spaces available
at Easterly Parkway Elementary School which is served
both the S. ATHERTON and DOWNTOWN shuttles. The shuttle
stop on Beaver Avenue at Schlow Library is served by the
DOWNTOWN shuttle and is within two blocks of all three
of large downtown parking garages.
