PARK & RIDE is a program
providing inexpensive perimeter parking for Downtown State College
business employees. The service results from a partnership between
the Borough of State College, CATA, and Penn State. For $15 a month,
participants get a parking permit for the Jordan Center East Parking
Lot where the BLUE and WHITE LOOPs provide free user access to Downtown
State College.
COST: Subscriptions are available in calendar month increments for
$15 per month. They can be purchased at either of CATA’s offices.

| Commuters
of the Penns Valley region to benefit from Park and Ride facility
In
the fall of 2004, Potter Township, Centre County executed
an agreement with PennDOT for the design and construction
of a Park and Ride facility in Old Fort, PA along the intersections
of SR45 and SR144. This location is a prime travel corridor
for many who work in the State College area, but live in the
Southeastern portion of the County. The land to be used for
the Park and Ride has been leased to Potter Township by the
American Legion Home Association of Old Fort. A kick-off meeting
was held this past November at which time officials from CATA,
PennDOT, Centre Regional Planning Agency, the American Legion
and Centre County Maintenance met to discuss the project.
Over
the winter PennDOT will be conducting surveys of the land
prior to the start of construction activities. Once the Park
and Ride is complete, commuters from Centre Hall and the entire
Penns Valley will have a lighted, maintained surface parking
lot to utilize for carpool travel. The parking will accommodate
50 vehicles and allow for future transit service. Once operational,
commuters will enjoy a safe, convenient location to meet other
carpooling commuters and share a ride into the State College
area. No date has been set for the start of construction. |
